When a home audio recording studio is put together, there is no doubt that the device will play a key factor in the recording success. However, this does not mean that you have to pay top dollar for all the things you buy. Most people are initially navigating well-established brand names. And if you have thousands of extra dollars of dust, then why not? These companies make great tools. But these brands do not have to limit themselves. In fact there are countless other companies that produce top notch equipment and at more reasonable prices. I have made this a point to do my homework before making any purchase. And this is working well for me. Here are some suggestions when it comes to buying equipment for your home audio recording studio.
1. Before the completion of any recording, make sure that the recordings look good! Test the area with the room measurement software. REW Room EQ Wizard is amazing ... and free. Make adequate treatment of problem areas with bass net and broadband absorbers. There is no point in getting quality equipment if the room sounds crap.
2. Search! That's why God gave us the Internet. There are a ton of great recording forums that can teach you everything you need to know about the device. Members of these forums may be able to take you towards some low cost gems. See also Review section on Music Instrument Retail Sites
3. Watch Equipment Shootout Video on the Internet. There are many quality videos that compare devices of different brands. Use your ears. Decide what you like. It's okay to focus on brand names, do not put too much value on them. There are fewer famous companies that make excellent equipment. Find them. There is no need to come up with a high value tag for quality.
4. Study the basics of setting up recording studio. If you do not have any idea of setting it up correctly, then good equipment works very little. Imagine that several thousand dollars have been invested in the microphone. Now imagine an unsatisfactory final project because you ignored the proper location of these audio-capture devices. Very disappointing, is not it?
5. Practice! Learn your devices exactly as you would like to play a musical instrument. Get accustomed to all the features. Despite the quality of the equipment, you have to know how to use it. Being able to get maximum capacity from your equipment can all be different.
These are some suggestions for setting up a home recording studio and considering buying a device.
